I strongly believe that sometimes the only way to have complete faith in your religion is to first doubt it. I did with
Chritianity, but I have since decided that it is the most logical of all the religions. I won't go into depth here, but if
you want to discuss the plausibility of the Christian religion, email me. Also, would somebody please explain to me the denominations?!
I find it hard to be completely against Buddhism, because my brother is a Buddhist. Buddhism shares many of the moral
principles that Christianity embraces, such as sexual purity, kindness, etc. However, the downfall of the religion is their
belief in reincarnation. This, to me, seems impossible. Buddhists don't believe in any God(s), so who brings them back
when they're dead? Also, how are population growths explained? Are more souls created? If so, by whom?
Judaism is very similar to Christianity. However, I don't think there nonbelief in Christ is correct. They believe that
Jesus was a prophet, but not the Son of God. This means Jesus was lying all of the times that he said he was Christ the Savior.
Last time I checked, prophets don't lie. I say you either believe in Him all the way or not at all.
Hindus also believe in reincarnation, but they think there are a lot of gods. The largest gap here is their history.
--there isn;t one. Everybody has different opinions on how this religion was acually formed, and as a result, all Hindus
have varying opinions about the religion itself. There is no set code of morals, no central organization, and no solid beliefs
in what God (Brahman) is like.
This one is a toughie. Some say it is a religion of its own, while many think Mormonism is a Christian denomination.
Some say it is a cult. I do not think Mormons are Christians, and here's why: they believe in the Book of Mormon, which
is an account of more "gospel" stories. They believe that a prophet named Joseph Smith was led to some buried golden
plates, which he translated into this document. It is my humble opinion that Smith created this religion with no help from
God, angels, or golden plates. First of all, the Book of Mormon claims to be more accurate than the Bible--kind of like a
computer update, better, and with the fixes that its creator (Smith) wanted. However, take a look at the Bible, specifically
Revelations 22:18-19. God clearly says that his book is CLOSED--"18 I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words
of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes
away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in
this book." This really is a touchy subject, so I would prefer that you contact me to hear my full opinion on the matter.
The largest difference between Islam and Christianity is that Allah is a harsh, cruel god, while the Christian God is
loving and kind. While God tells Christians to turn the other cheek, Allah says make war. When God says to be merciful,
while Allah is judgmental. God says that marriage is a sacred, holy thing, while Muslims believe marriage is for having kids,
and can have multiple wives.
There are many more small, obscure religions out there like Rastafarianism (God hates whites) and Hare Krishna (chanting
God's name and getting others to will save you), but I won't address these. If you want to know about them or want me to
include them in this section, send me an email. Also, please inform me if I have misrepresented any religion--I'm not looking
for enemies, I'm just stating my views.
